This is a picture of me hold a baby pig that burned our house down I was about 6 years old and we had a litter of baby pigs on our back porch because the stupid mother had waded into our pond and got stuck and drown It is a true story. We brought the babies home and put a blanked around them with a heat lamp to keep them warm. The lamp fell against the blanket and caught fire. While at church our neighbor ran into the church yelling at the tops of his lungs that our house was on fire. The whole church ran outside and true enough it was engulfed in flames. My mother who is an animal lover immediately ran into the burning house to save the pigs. There were no fire departments nearby it took them 20 minutes to get to our house and she didn't want to wait. She ran into the house stepping of burning wood and burning her feet (not seriously) to save the pigs. The pigs had already escaped. By this time the fire department arrived and were only able to save my mother piano all my childhood went up in smoke. The next day the local paper came to take picture of the house and thought it would be cute to take this picture of me holding the baby pig with a band aid on his nose where it had gotten burned and ran the story in the paper. (why pic has such poor quality) This is the only picture I have from me at this age. It really Sucks. Grandparents have tons of my older brother and sister but me being the baby they forgot about me Now being a parent I can understand why.
thats sad but at lest you the family & pigs were all safe houses can be replaced, lifes cannot and I guess your still have your memories but sadly not the memoriblia of your childhood.
So I guess a somewhat good out come really lookining at the photo I guess you see a little of the funnier side in the little pigs that cost a house
That is true. I do have Good memories of that time in my life. Our little town was Great. They gave us a big party and the whole town came out and pretty much set up a new household for us including all kinds of new toys. That was pretty sweet The town I grew up in only had a population of 521 so everyone new everyone.
yeah its sad these days it dont seem to be like that the area I grew up in had very much the village style about it these days they seem to be a rare thing even in towns, populations changing too much So I am sure you have many beautful memories and yes thats what folks did for one another so thats good and heart warming to hear
